Canada memories

Here are a few fabulous videos that Tom, Lisa, Brad and I watched yesterday on Lisa's laptop:

Lisa recorded (surreptitiously) Brian and Esme jamming on the guitars:

Esme recorded a group papermaking session (complete with a Harper clapalong)

  1. Early this morning an idea occurred to me that I thought was original and urgently compelling: hiring a professional web company to design a site devoted to Esme. But, lo and behold, first thing I discover on my computer this morning is Lux Aeterna. Outstanding!— and wholly provided in house by a family that is beginning to amaze me. What a tribute to Esme’s memory. But more importantly, what a stimulus Lux Aeterna is to promoting her legacy.

Esme’ character and spirit have already impacted my life, and I seek to know why. Lux Aeterna prompts answers. One is that Esme is surrounded and nurtured by a truly loving and involved family. She shown the love she was shown and continues to be shown. She mirrored what is good despite a world quite fallen in disarray due, in large part, to the progressive weakening of the concrete and cohesive communities in which humans have found solidarity and meaning throughout history. Esme was a family girl. And everything about Esme continues to be a family affair. So thank you for being her family. And thank you for extending her family to include the public at large through Lux Aeterna and the other digital forums with which members of your family perpetuate Esme’s life and legacy.

I do have a suggestion. In order for Esme’s story to be complete, I think a link to the proper archives at www.cincinnati.com or else an edited compilation of the articles that tell the story of her passing would be helpful. Esme died at the hands of one who I believe sadly and horribly exemplifies forces that weaken and destroy concrete and cohesive communities that provide solidarity and meaning.

  2. That last line should instead read, "Esme died at the hands of one who I believe sadly and horribly exemplifies many people who come from weakened communities no longer able to provide solidarity and meaning." Her death is ironically having the counter effect of strengthening the community that is discovering Esme to be its center.
